Pati's Etched Glass Window Tutorial


Adding your Mask and Etching It.

You can name your image layers by clicking on the image in your layers pallette
Add a layer for your etching.
I named my layers bg (background), glass, and etching.
Be sure that your etching layer is active.
(it should be highlighted in the layer pallette.








Go to Selections on your top menu.

Move down and select load from alpha










The mask you created should appear in the popup menu.

Click OK









The image will appear as a transparent area with marching ants around it.

The area may look like a blob with ants around it like mine.
Go to your mover tool make it the active tool.
If your mask is not centered on your image right click on it and move it to the center.

DO NOT DESELECT THE AREA.







Go to Effects on your top menu.

Move down to 3d effects

Select cutout.









Your settings should be as follows:

OPACITY= 100     BLUR = 11.3

VERTICAL= 4      HORIZONTAL = 4

FILL INTERIOR BOX IS UNCHECKED

COLOR = WHITE

Click OK








Your image will now change and have a slight white hue to it.








Go to the top menu and select effects again.

Move down to 3D effects.

Choose Drop Shadow






Your setting here should be

OPACITY= 58     BLUR = 3.7

VERTICAL= 2      HORIZONTAL = 2

FILL INTERIOR BOX IS UNCHECKED

COLOR = WHITE

Click OK








Now repeat the drop shadow effect

All the setting the same EXCEPT

Change the color to BLACK
