Select the light grey color on your color pallette as your BACKGROUND color.
Go to image on your top menu.
Move down to add borders
Set the selectons to symetrical and 24.
Use your magic wand tool to select the grey area you just added.
Go to EFFECTS on your top menu.
Move down to Texture Effects
Select Textures
Click on the arrow next to the picture in the selections box
Select the grey wood #60
The image to the left shows a section of your wooden texture area.
Go to the EFFECTS menu again.
Move down to 3D EFFECTS
Then select OUTER BEVEL
Set your settings like the ones in the image to the left.
Click Ok.
I find that even with the color set to white, the area becomes much to dark for my taste.
If you like it dark skip the next step.
Go to Color on the top menu,
Adjust Brightness and Contrast,
You can adjust the settings and click on the "eye" to view the effect.
Leave the area selected.
Now we will add a drop shadow
Go to EFFECTS,
3D EFFECTS,
DROP SHADOW
Your settings should be there from before,
If not set them like the ones to the left.
Now you may want to resize your image. Look at the top of your image and see if it is set
to 1:2. If so you are viewing a half size version. Click on your magifying glass and click until the top of the image says 1:1 This is the real size of your image.
Go to IMAGE on your top menu.
Move down to RESIZE
I usually try about 80 percent.
I try and keep my images small enough so I can view them at 1:1 in PSP.
Save your image.
If you want to make a thumbnail image repeat and resize to 50 percent and save the thumbnail.
Your final image should look like this:
