Glassing an Image Tutorial - Page Two

On these pages I will show you the areas to select. After you select the areas, DO a EXPAND/FEATHER to the area and apply bladepro stainedglass preset to the area. The images on the right are the selection areas, the images on the left are the after preset images.

BEFORE WE START you might want to clear your command history and your clipboard. All these clicks and selections can take up a lot of space and if your temp file gets full your PSP will just shut down on you. You don't want to loose your work so do a FILE SAVE also.

If at any time you are selecting an area, or if bladepro seems to take forever to apply, you have probably come very close to that temp file being full. Click on EDIT/EMPTY/CLIPBOARD and repeat with EDIT/EMPTY/COMMAND HISTORY.

We will now proceed with glassing her dress. Select some of the lighter areas of her skirt.

DO NOT Select the entire skirt. If you select the entire skirt at once then you will get a fairly flat version of the glass.

Select some of the other areas of the skirt.

Now for the good part--don't worry if you select a previously selected area. It will not hurt anything.

So you can just select whereever you think it needs to be glassed.

AND you thought this was difficult. You don't have to be perfect here.

Oh no I forgot to do a screen print of the after image, well you can see it in the next image (sorry!).

I thought that the top of her dress was a little dark so I decided to lighten it a bite before applying the glass.

Select the bodice of her dress and then we will lighten it a bite.
Don't forget to EXPAND/FEATHER THE AREA.

I use the retouch tool to lighten the area, you can also adjust the colors.

But I prefer the way that the retouch tool lightens it. I set the tool to dodge and the paper texture to mist.

Just click on your selected area until you like the new color.

DAH - I did it again--forgot that screen capture of the bodice. SORRY AGAIN!

Now we get to play with the bows and roses. You will notice that I select areas with the same color. It is just my style, you can do it whatever way you feel comfortable.

OKAY I forget to screen print the selection of the darker areas, but I think by now you get the picture (no you don't here!! I am so punny!! )

Then select the darker sections of the bow and rose

and then EXPAND/FEATHER and applied bladepro.

Select the rose stem and leaves.

and then EXPAND/FEATHER and applied bladepro.

AND YES I forgot again. The after picture of the leaves cannot be found.

The hair is done in the same way. I select a small area of lighter hair,
and then EXPAND/FEATHER and applied bladepro.

Then select a small area of darker hair
and then EXPAND/FEATHER and applied bladepro.

and then I select the major portion of her hair overlapping the previous area
and then EXPAND/FEATHER and applied bladepro.
