Staining - the fun begins!

When we left page 1 your image looked like the one on the left.
When I start to stain I like to open my glass samples, selecting the ones that I think I will use.
When I download an image from the net I name it by color reference so I can find all the greens, blues or reds easily.
I then minimize them so they are easy to access but don't clutter the desk top.
Open all the images in the stainglass folder (except the fire.psp and candle.jpg).
We will start by filling the leaf areas of the image.
Open the greenrr.jpg.
Zoom the image so that you can see the leaf area and select all the leaf areas.
You will need to expand and feather the selected area in order to get all the area and not have those terrible white jazzies appear on your image.
Image Selection Expand = 1 or 2 depending on size of area (1 for small areas and 2 for larger areas
Image Selection Feather = same number as you used in the expand.
If the selected areas look dirty you will want to clean them.
Set both the background and foreground colors to white.
Set flood fill to solid color. You can now flood fill or cut the area (sometimes you have to do both to get a clean area).
When the area is clean and white click on flood fill to pattern and choose the greenrr.jpg as the pattern to use. Then fill the area with the green, you may have to fill several times to get a dark enough fill.
When you feel the area is filled, ZOOM to insure that there are no little white spots. There are several in the image above (this usually occurs when areas do not have a straight edge). You can still flood fill the area while in zoom and it is easier to find the exact spot to click on.

When you finish with the leaf area, unselection (selection none). The select all the berry area and expand and feather as above. Set flood fill to solid and flood fill with white and/or cut until area is clean. Set flood fill to pattern and select redrr.jpg and fill the berries. You should really zoom in to areas this small. Flood fill by clicking directly on the white spot.
Now we can work on the candle.
It will be much easier to select, be sure to expand and feather the selection.
Clean the area as above.
Set the flood fill pattern to goldrr.jpg and fill the area.
Selection the background area.
Expand and feather, then clean the area.
Set the flood fill pattern to clearblue.jpg and fill the background.
Your staining job is almost done!
Using Picture tubes to add flame, highlites and hide little glitches
Select the flame area.
Expand, Feather, and Clean the area.
Click on Picture tubes and find the fire tube in the drop down list. Click on the flame area.
You can click several times to fill the area and get the effect you like or adjust the size of the flame.
I purposely left this little area so that you could see that all is not lost or unrepairable. The tip was not included in the selection. There is no need to undo to fix the tip. We now will select the tip and repeat the flame tube procedure.

Use the sparkle tube to place so a highlight on the flame.
Use the sparkle tube to place so a highlight on the the candle, berry and leaves.
To finish off the image, add a border about 4-6 pixels wide symetrically around the picture (images, add border, check symetric box and 4-6 pixels.
Use the selection tool to select the border area.
Click on Images, Plugins, Flaming Pear, BladePro.
When the window opens select the pewter preset and apply it to the image.
You can add a signature and your image is complete.
