Creating Stained Glass Windows in Paint Shop Pro 7 - Page 2
We left off on page one with a center area that was kaleidoscoped and the outside area was clean similiar
to the image at the left.
The next step is to add a sphere shape to the image.
I use the white sphere in the preset shapes tool.
See the image to the left to locate the sphere I used.
Be sure that you have create as a vector box checked.
Select the sphere and then go to your image
and click above and to the left of your center area,
then and drag the shape onto your image.
You need not worry if the sphere is too big or too small we will adjust it in the next step.
You now adjust the opacity of the sphere shape layer in the layer pallette.
See large blue arrow in the image to the left.
You move the lever to the left until you can see through the sphere to the image below.
Now we need to adjust the sphere size so that it just covers your kaleidoscoped center area.
Is the sphere centered over the area?
If not then place your cursor over the center of the image and click and drag it so that it is over the center.
On the top, bottom, left and right vector lines around your sphere are little squares, place your cursor over the square and an arrow point left/right or up/down will appear, click and drag the
sphere in or out.
When you are satisfied with the location of your sphere,
you then convert the vector layer to raster.
You can either use the menu and select layers, convert to raster.
Or you can right click on the layer and move down the menu to convert to raster.
We now add the gold ring (you can use any color/texture)to the area just outside the kaleidosope area.
Turn off the Kaleidoscope layer (click on the little glasses in the layer pallette - a red X will appear over the glasses).
ADD A NEW LAYER, we will add the ring to this layer, you can name the layer ring.
Then use the magic wand to select the area outside your sphere.
Invert the selections using Selections, invert from your menu.
Expand your selection, about 6 pixels. (Selection, Modify, Expand - set to six pixels).
Your image should look like the one to the left.
We will now flood fill the area, select a color to use and then flood fill the area.
The flood fill tool looks like a tipped paint can with a small drop of paint spilling out.
DO NOT WORRY about having the entire area filled.
We now contract the selection (about 8-10 pixels).
Selection, Modify, Contract, set to 8 or 10.
You want the ring to slightly overlap the sphere.
Use the scissors to cut away the center of the yellow fill.
Turn off the sphere layer, select the yellow ring and apply blade pro to preset to your ring.
Turn on all your layers and your image should look like the one to the right.
Move the layers around so that the ring layer is on top, with kaleidoscope layer next and the sphere layer on the bottom.
